Cross Country Season beginsHuge congratulations to all the St. Farnan's Cross Country runners on their amazing performance at the opening race at this year's "Three Counties Cross Country League" held in Carlow Hurling Club on Tuesday 26th September.
Facing some serious opposition, students competed in team races against other schools from Carlow, Laois and Kildare.
We welcomed our 1st Year runners to the minor boys and girls teams who made their debut at the event and put in an excellent performance with special congratulations to Aidan Gormley from class Boole who came in 27th place in the minor boys' race.
All runners ran with great heart and soul and held nothing back on the day. Well done to Jack Cross and Rory Moran for hard earned 26th and 28th places in the junior boys' race.
A strong performance from the junior girls' team ensured they all finished in the top 40. Amy Brereton's consistent pace secured her 32nd place in the Inter girls' race.
Other exceptional performances on the day included Darren Keane's determination getting him first home for the Senior boys in 31st place and an impressive sprint finish from Gregory Quish earning him 34th place after a gruelling 3000m run also for the senior boys team. |
