Mainstream Special Education Team in St. Farnan's Post Primary School 2024-2025:
Special education teachers provide additional teaching to our students with special educational needs in a number of different ways including:
- assessing and recording the child’s needs and progress
- setting specific, time-related targets for each child and agreeing these with the subject teacher and school leadership
- teaching the students, either with the rest of the class or in smaller groups or individually as needs arise
- advising subject teachers about differentiating the curriculum to suit different students
- meeting with and advising parents, accompanied by the teacher, as needed
- meeting other professionals such as psychologists, speech and language therapists, visiting teachers in relation to a students’s special educational needs.
