Due to over-subscription, the lottery draw for admission to 1st year August 2024 took place today (Thursday, 16th November) by Denise Hayes, Chair of our Parents' Association and Denise Cox, member of our Board of Management and was overseen by the Chairperson of our Board of Management, Cllr. Brendan Weld. Also in attendance was school secretary Nicolette Hayes, Home School Liaison Coordinator, Jennifer Reilly, Deputy Principal, Sarah Kennedy and Principal, Andrew Purcell. Unfortunately the Gardai were unable to make this meeting because they had an emergency to attend to at the time of the draw.
Letters for successful applicants and also for those 'Refused due to Over-subscription (on the 'waiting lists') have been posted on Thursday 16th November in the afternoon.
Could all parents/guardians please return back the 'offer of a school place' acceptance form or the 'waiting list' acceptance as soon as possible and by the deadline (12pm on Friday 1st December ).
122 applicants have been accepted into St. Farnan's PPS for 1st year 2024-2025 based on the school's Admission Policy. Another 66 applicants remain on the waiting list for mainstream (58) and special classes (8).
Any applicant who will NOT be taking a placement in St. Farnan's PPS and has accepted another school placement must also let us know by this date but please let us know as soon as possible. You can ONLY accept one school space but may stay on other school's waiting lists. The Department of Education is aware of the huge volume of students applying to St. Farnan's, Scoil Mhuire, Clane and other local schools and is seeking relevant data urgently to work with ourselves and all other schools in North Kildare.
Parents/Guardians of students refused a placement because of over-subscription (all on our waiting lists now) can firstly seek a Review by our Board of Management before appealing to the Department of Education Section 29 Appeals committee. The document is attached in the NEWS section and Enrolment section of our website and is also available from the front office, by post or by emailing the school. Please be aware of the deadline to get these forms back in as soon as possible and by Wednesday 6th December 2023 by the latest..
