The Department of Education (DES) has officially approved the plans and designs of Stage 2A of our new devolved 1,000 pupil school at a meeting in early August.
Stage 2B, the planning and tendering stage, will now begin and we are all hoping for a very early completion date given the huge pressure that we are under in our current building, both size wise and from a health and safety point of view.
The Department in conjunction with KWETB have also granted us extra temporary accommodation (4 additional classrooms) which will be on site after Christmas and until the new build is completed and has also funded major roof works to make sure that the very old flat roof section of our school is maintained to a high standard for the next few years!
Thanks to architects MCOH, project managers Rogers and Reddan and all their associates and the excellent buildings teams in KWETB and the DES for their support for this overdue project.
A meeting with immediate local residents will be organised soon whereby they will be able to see the project and plans for the new school.
