Presentation of the Ray O'Malley Cup
Ray O'Malley Cup 2020 Joint Winners: Eoin Bagnall & Kevin Campbell
Last weekend, the Ray O' Malley Cup for the year 2020 was presented to two of last year's 6th year students, Kevin Campbell and Eoin Bagnall.
Ray O'Malley was a former principal of St. Farnan's Post Primary School who had a great passion for Gaelic games. On his retirement he presented this cup to the school so that it would be given out each year to any student in the school who showed a profound commitment, sportsmanship and flair for Gaelic football, hurling or camogie.
Eoin and Kevin have shown great aptitude and leadership on and off the pitch not only this year, but throughout their time in the school. They are both skillful attacking footballers that often played side by side to form a formidable half forward line for the different school teams .
Together they have amassed three Leinster schools' titles each; the first students in the school to achieve such a feat. As third year students, they were part of the Senior Leinster winning side in 2018. The following year, together they captained an undefeated U16 Leinster winning side. Finally, in March 2020, as Senior students they achieved their last school Leinster title.
They have shown a very positive attitude to sport throughout their time here in St. Farnan's. There is no doubt that both of them will have an integral role to play promoting Gaelic games in their local clubs, Allenwood GFC and Caragh GAA for many years to come and the school community wishes them both continued success!
