School will reopen on Tuesday 7th Jan 2025 for the full day. Please take extreme care when waiting for and alighting from buses, crossing the roads and walking to school. Many footpaths will be very slippery in the morning as will the path through Prosperous Park and the school grounds.

Presidential Election 2018

Ireland will go to the polls on October 26th this year to elect the President of Ireland. Michael D. Higgins has decided to run for a second term in office.

This is a fantastic opportunity for our CSPE students to see Democracy in action. Hopefully we will have lots of class discussion and activities about the potential,candidates, their manifestos and performances in debates. 

 

Some classes aim to run their own 'mock elections' to see if they can predict who the winner will be! Voting in elections is a key element of being an active citizen, which we study about in CSPE, as well as the concept of democracy.
