Principal's Letter re. School Closure
PARENT LETTER 2.
As you are all aware by now all schools are closed for the next 2 weeks. While we were fully prepared for such an eventuality, it still came as a shock. In my previous letter I went through the contingency plans for our students. They still stand, i.e. students will be emailed work and study plans and can respond to their individual teachers. This has been gone through with all students over the past few days in preparation for school closure.
All students and staff had an assembly today and were given advice and information on Covid 19 virus and how they can play their part in stemming its spread in society. I want to take this opportunity to acknowledge the excellent behaviour and maturity of our students during today’s assembly. They were a credit to all concerned. As parents you need to reassure them that we will pull through this present situation. I would ask you also to make sure that study and revision takes place and to curtail their movement during this two week period. This is not a holiday, but a school closure to stem the spread of the Covid 19 virus.
Over the past few days our school has taken a number of calls from concerned parents asking had we cases of Covid 19 in the school as various rumours were circulating on social media etc. At NO time did the HSE inform me as Principal that we had cases in our school. I am happy to put the record straight as this misinformation did cause our school community unnecessary stress.
Finally, please keep an eye on our website and Facebook page for updates going forward.
Mind each other.
Kind regards,
Eddie Collins. Principal.
