Principal's Letter to parents of 6th class pupils

Principal’s letter to Sixth Class students.

Greetings from a very busy St Farnan’s Post Primary School. Normally at this time of year, school personnel would be in the middle of visiting schools in our catchment area. Unfortunately, this year these visits have been curtailed for obvious reasons. While we continue to be in contact with our feeder primary schools of Allen, Allenwood, Coill Dubh, Prosperous, Robertstown, Staplestown and Timahoe and beyond, this year it will be done differently.

At this time of year you as parents, guardians are deciding which second level school to send your daughter/son. You will base this decision on:

• Your own research. Please take time to view our detailed website
• Advice from other parents
• Where older siblings have attended
• Where your child’s friends are going

The purpose of this letter is to inform you on how enrolment to St Farnan’s Post Primary School will operate this year. We have created a new tab on our website that holds all the information you need. This consists of:

1. Admissions Policy. All schools must have an admissions policy to explain the system operated in individual schools. This is governed by The Department of Education and Science.
2. Admissions Notice. This document states the opening and closing dates for enrolments as well as the number of places available both in mainstream and in special classes.
3. Application / Enrolment Form. This is an expression of interest form to inform a school that you would like to send your child to St. Farnan’s Post Primary School. It is a little different from previous years, so please complete it carefully

Please note that you can get this form by:

• Downloading and printing from website
• Email or phone school to ask for one to be sent out to you
• Our feeder Primary schools will have a supply

Completed forms can then be

• Emailed to info@stfarnans.ie or principal@stfarnans.ie .
• Posted to St. Farnan’s Post Primary School, Prosperous
• Handed into office following school’s Covid 19 policy, i.e. please ring 045868152 before hand and fill in contact tracing form at front door.

Please note closing date of Friday 30^th October.
