Principal's Newsletter
As mentioned previously, we opened our doors to our Sixth Year students on Monday 31st August. At this stage we are all looking forward to a well-deserved Mid Term Break. We have had a very successful first half term.
- All our students returned safely to a new normal consisting of Pods, hand sanitizer and masks as well as regular hand washing. Teaching and Learning continues with some new innovative features including more concentration on Google Classroom.
- Our Isolation room has been busy at times with students waiting to be collected after being contacted by school personnel. Thankfully all students coming back clear or suffering from the usual ailments associated with this time of the year. Long may this continue.
- Once we return after midterm, the weather will take a turn for the worst so I am asking students to wear additional layers as classroom doors and windows will continue to remain open as per HSE guidelines. School fleeces are still available at a very reasonable €25 from schoolwear.ie . These fleeces are available in black for senior students and maroon for junior students.
- I would like to remind parents that application forms are available for enrolment for First year 2021 elsewhere on our website. I ask that you have a look at our promotional video as well as all the other information available on our website. The Video was developed by our own students and produced by a past student William Cribbin. A very professional production by William and our current students .
If you have any questions in relation to enrolment please email me at principal@stfarnans.ie . If you send me a number I will get back to you as soon as possible.
- On Tuesday 20th October we had a visit from our Department of Education Inspector who visited the school to check on our Covid 19 compliance. This is a Department led initiative called ‘Supporting the Safe provision Of Schooling October –December 2020’. I am glad to report that we were deemed compliant in all the measures that we have put in place. While we cannot get complacent, it is nice to get the recognition for all the hard work put in by our school community.
Finally, I would like to thank all our hard working staff, Teaching, SNAs, Office, Cleaning and Caretaking who have gone above and beyond to make sure that Teaching and Learning continues and that our school continues to adhere to our Covid 19 response plan. To you as Parents/Guardians, thank you for your cooperation making sure your sons/daughters are compliant in relation to Covid 19 protocols. A special mention to our fantastic students who continue to remain positive and in good humour. Well done and thanks!
It is important that during Midterm that we continue to adhere to all the Government Guidelines and the associated levels.
Have a safe Mid Term Break which commences on Friday, 23rd October at 1.20pm. School will reopen on Monday, November 2nd.
