Update on School Tour to Germany
UPDATE FOR GUARDIANS/ PARENTS OF STUDENTS TRAVELLING ON THE UPCOMING EUROPEAN TOUR
It is with both regret and relief that we inform Guardians and students that we have been advised to cancel the upcoming school tour to Germany. What would have been a great cultural, academic and social experience for our fifth year students has been overshadowed by fear around travel and social contact during the current Covid-19 virus pandemic.
Under the guidance of our Tour Operator, it has been advised that our group do not travel to Germany during this time of uncertainty. We endeavour to work alongside our contacts in the tour company over the coming days and weeks to access as much of a refund as possible for those that are affected by the cancellation. As of 19/03/2020, our flights are still running as scheduled. As a result, the fare price of the flights is currently non-refundable. However, this situation could change in the coming days making a refund available.
We as a group of teachers and school hoping to provide this travel experience for your son/ daughter are disappointed that it is not to be. However, in the interest of personal health and safety for all travelling and our/ your whole family this is a responsible decision that the tour company have advised.
We will keep the lines of communication open with you in the coming days and weeks. We will update you with further correspondence from the tour company particularly about refunds. For now, Ms. Breslin and I, would like to thank our colleagues, Mr. Kenna, Ms. Reilly, Ms. Flanagan and Mr. Mc Govern who were willing to travel and make the tour a possibility. We hope to return with more offerings in the next academic year, in a hopefully more safe and peaceful time to travel.
